Can baby rice noodles be cooked and eaten? Points to note when buying rice noodles

Many new parents don't know how to prepare rice cereal when adding it to their children. They always think that since it is made of raw rice, it should be cooked before eating. So, can baby rice cereal be cooked before eating? What should you pay attention to when buying rice cereal?

Can baby rice cereal be cooked?

If the rice noodles are homemade and ground by yourself, they should be fried rice, not raw rice, so just rinse them with water and then stir them into a paste; the rice noodles bought outside are also cooked, and once they are boiled in high-temperature water, most of the nutrients will be gone, so why bother?

Note that mothers do not need to cook the prepared rice noodles, otherwise the water-soluble nutrients in the rice noodles will be easily destroyed. The appropriate water temperature for preparing rice noodles is 70℃~80℃.

Notes on buying rice noodles

1. When choosing nutritional rice cereal for infants and young children, mothers should pay attention to the food category marked on the package. They can also compare the nutrient content to select the variety suitable for their baby.

2. Pay attention to whether the contents are individually packaged, because independent packaging is not only easy to measure and estimate the amount the baby will use each time, but it is also more hygienic, especially in the summer and is not easily contaminated by moisture.

3. Choose nutritious rice cereal for infants and young children that is suitable for the baby’s age.

4. Choose brand products with good after-sales service and guaranteed quality. Avoid blindly pursuing expensive and foreign products, and don’t be misled by advertisements.

5. Some babies are allergic to lactose or milk protein. Mothers should pay special attention to whether the ingredient list contains milk powder when purchasing.

Do not add flavoring agents to complementary foods

Do not add salt or sugar to complementary foods for infants under 1 year old. Although breast milk, infant formula, and rice flour are not salty, it does not mean that there are no sodium and chloride ions. It is just that they are not table salt (sodium chloride). Adding salt to children too early will lead to excessive sodium intake, increasing the risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease in the future. Adding sugar at an early age increases the risk of tooth decay.

Milk is still the main

Infants need protein the most in their early stages. Rice flour contains less protein and cannot meet all the needs of infant growth and development. Therefore, infants under one year old should still be fed with formula milk. If only rice flour is used instead of milk for feeding, protein deficiency will occur. The specific manifestations are: growth retardation, affecting the growth of the infant's nervous system, blood system and muscles, and low resistance, insufficient immunoglobulin, and easy to get sick.

At the same time, pancreatic amylase does not reach adult levels until about 6 months of age, so infants under 6 months should not be fed with rice flour foods, otherwise it will easily cause indigestion. After 6 months, some rice flour foods can be fed appropriately, but not only with rice flour. Even if mixed with milk, milk should be the main food, supplemented with rice flour.

In addition, different flavors of rice cereal can be used at each stage of the baby's growth. For example, in the early stage of adding rice cereal, a single grain food that is delicate, smooth, and easy to digest can help the baby take the first step in successfully switching to breast milk. As the baby grows, you can choose to try new flavors for the baby, so that the baby can experience the fun of growing up with a variety of flavors.
