How many times a day should babies eat rice noodles? The correct way to make rice noodles

Babies can start eating rice cereal when they are about six months old. So how many times a day is appropriate for babies to eat rice cereal? How should the frequency of feeding be adjusted? Can babies eat homemade rice cereal? Is homemade rice cereal better or ready-made rice cereal?

How many times a day should babies eat rice cereal?

After 6 months, add complementary food in the morning, add another meal of rice cereal at around 6 pm (that is, after 6 pm, usually dinner time), and still a large bottle of milk at 9 pm, so that the baby is full and can sleep well at night. Rice cereal is regarded as a staple food, and it is also fed after 3 hours.

The correct way to make rice noodles

The amount of rice cereal to be added may vary slightly for different flavors. It is recommended to follow the instructions on the product packaging. Take Heinz rice cereal as an example:

1. Wash the tableware, spoons and hands, and disinfect the bowls and spoons thoroughly to ensure the safety of the baby's food.

2. Prepare boiling water at a temperature of about 60-80 degrees or prepared formula milk powder.

3. Different forms of rice noodles use different preparation orders. Heinz rice noodles are flaky rice noodles. When preparing, first pour an appropriate amount of rice noodles into a bowl, measure 60-70℃ warm milk/warm water, add enough at one time, and pour it into the rice noodles quickly and evenly.

4. Stir while pouring to make sure all the rice flour is in full contact with the liquid. Let it stand for 30 seconds to allow the rice flour to absorb water. Stir evenly in one direction for 1 minute to make it into a paste. The best rice flour is the one that can be scooped up with a spoon and poured down slowly. It is best if it is neither too thin nor too thick. If it is too thin, the child will be hungry easily. If it is too thick, it will be difficult to feed and the baby will not be able to swallow it easily.

5. After cooling to a suitable temperature, consume as soon as possible.

Note: When adding rice cereal to your baby, start with 5 grams each time (one flat spoon of milk powder or household spoon is about 5 grams), 10 grams each time after 5 days, and 15-20 grams each time within 20 days. Each spoonful of rice cereal can be mixed with 25 ml of water or 30 ml of milk.

The difference between homemade rice noodles and ready-made rice noodles

Homemade rice noodles are not only difficult to ensure hygiene, but the nutrients are easily lost when cooked at high temperatures.

Finished rice noodles are generally nutritionally formulated according to the baby's needs, and some nutrients are strengthened during the processing process, making them relatively more suitable for baby consumption.

Some babies may have allergic reactions to finished rice cereal. Once the baby shows signs of allergy, stop using the rice cereal.

If your baby is uncomfortable with ready-made rice noodles, you can consider making your own rice noodles. Since the baby's first complementary food should be rich in iron, if you feed your baby pure rice noodles without iron fortification, you should pay attention to introducing meat paste, fish paste and other iron-rich foods with high absorption rate to your baby in time.

What can be added to rice noodles?

If your baby doesn't like to eat plain rice porridge, mothers can buy flavored rice noodles, or add pumpkin puree, carrot puree, egg yolk puree, sweet potato puree, etc. to the rice noodles. As the child's gastrointestinal function improves, you can also add animal blood from chicken, duck, pig, etc., as well as lean meat puree, fish puree, pork liver puree, chicken liver puree, etc., which are rich in iron and easy to absorb, and can be directly added to the rice noodles. However, do not add any seasonings, such as sugar, salt, etc., to babies under 1 year old.

In short, the principle of adding complementary foods should be to start with the most basic juice, fruit puree, rice paste, and egg yolks, from less to more, from thin to thick, from simple to complex. Don't feed too much at once, but increase gradually.

The order of adding complementary foods to your baby:

4-5 months: Iron-fortified rice cereal, vegetable puree, and fruit puree

6-7 months: porridge, soft noodles, chopped vegetables, egg yolk, fish paste, tofu, animal blood

8-9 months: minced meat, animal offal, toasted bread slices, teething sticks (biscuits), biscuits, eggs

10-12 months: thick porridge, soft rice, minced meat and vegetables, wontons
