Children's height and weight standard table 2022

Based on the results of the children's physical development survey, the Department of Women and Social Affairs of the Ministry of Health organized relevant experts to study and formulate the "Reference Standards for Growth and Development of Children Under 7 Years Old in China", which was officially announced by the Ministry of Health on June 2, 2009. Boys and girls develop differently. Parents can refer to the following table to see if their children's height and weight are normal. It should be noted that the following data is not an absolute standard. As long as the child's height and weight are within the normal range and there are no abnormal symptoms, parents do not need to worry too much.

Table 1 Standard values of height (length) for boys under 7 years old (cm)

Note: The table shows height before 3 years old, height after 3 years old

Table 2 Standard values of height (length) for girls under 7 years old (cm)

Note: The table shows height before 3 years old, height after 3 years old

In life, parents of short children are often accused: it’s your fault if your baby doesn’t grow tall! In fact, it is not true. If you make good preparations, your baby can also grow taller.

Table 4 Standard weight values for girls under 7 years old (kg)

Note: "Median" means the average level of the population; if it is within the range of "-1sd~median~+1sd", i.e., one standard deviation above and below the median, it is in the "normal range", representing 68% of children; if it is within the range of "(-2sd~-1sd) or (+1sd~+2sd)", i.e., two standard deviations above and below the median, it is defined as "short (tall)", representing 27.4% of children; if it is within the range of "(-3sd~-2sd) or (+2sd~+3sd)", i.e., three standard deviations above and below the median, it is defined as "short (tall)", representing 4.6% of children. Very few children are outside the three standard deviations (<-3sd>+3sd) (the proportion is less than 0.5%).

Children's height and weight calculation formula

The calculation of children's height and weight can be done by formula, but the younger the infant, the faster the growth rate of height and weight. It is not suitable to use the formula and needs to be memorized. It is not accurate to measure the height of children under three years old in a standing position. Generally, the height is measured. The average height at birth is 50cm, and it can increase by 25cm in the first year, so the height of one year old should be 75cm. The growth rate slows down slightly in the second year, about 12-13cm, and the height at two years old is about 88cm. After two years old, it can be calculated according to the formula method, which is age × 7 + 77cm. Weight, birth weight is about 3kg, 3-12 months weight is (age + 9) ÷ 2, 1-6 years old weight is (age × 2) + 8, 7-12 years old weight is (age × 7-5) ÷ 2.

Six factors that affect your baby's height

Genetics: The height of a baby is greatly affected by genetics, so the height of the parents can be used to predict the height that the baby will reach in the future to a certain extent. The formula is as follows:

A boy's future height (cm) = (father's height + mother's height) × 1.078 ÷ 2 A girl's future height (cm) = (father's height × 0.923 + mother's height) ÷ 2 The influence of genetic factors on the baby's height is not absolute, because the final height is also affected by five other factors.

Gender: The average height of full-term newborns is slightly higher for boys than for girls, with a difference of about 2 cm. This gender gap may exist throughout childhood and into early adolescence.

Nutrition: Babies with adequate nutrition grow faster. When the baby's nutrition cannot meet the needs of bone growth, the speed of height growth will slow down.

Sleep: Babies who get enough sleep grow fast because their growth is regulated by the growth hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, and the secretion of growth hormone in the human body is highest during sleep. Exercise: Exercise can promote blood circulation in babies, improve bone nutrition, accelerate bone growth, make bones dense, and promote height growth.

Disease: Generally, acute diseases affect weight, while chronic diseases affect height. Environment: Generally speaking, children in northern my country are taller than those in southern China; children in areas with good economic conditions and high cultural levels also grow taller.

Tips: Baby's height and measurement method Height is a very important indicator to measure the baby's physical development. It refers to the length of the whole body from the top of the head to the sole of the foot. Babies under 3 years old cannot stand or cannot stand steadily, so height (also known as body length) should be measured in the supine position. Let the baby lie on his back on the table, with his lower limbs together and straight, fix the head with a book and make it perpendicular to the table, use a pen to mark a straight line, then use a book to support the baby's feet and make it perpendicular to the table, use a pen to draw a line, and use a tape measure to measure the length between the two lines, which is the baby's height.

Seven foods to help children grow taller

Height-enhancing food 1: Black soybeans

Soybeans are widely recognized as high-protein foods, and black soybeans have the highest protein content. Black soybeans are low in calories, so eating more black soybeans will not make you fat. They can be cooked with rice or ground into black soybean milk. If your child dislikes black soybeans, you can feed them peanuts.

Height-increasing food 2: Eggs

Children generally do not resist eggs, especially the protein-rich egg whites. Eggs are high-protein foods and are perfect for growing children. Although the cholesterol in egg yolks is high, it is not a big problem as long as the number of eggs consumed per day is controlled. Eat 1-2 eggs per day.

Height-increasing food 3: Milk

If you want your child to grow taller, milk is an indispensable food. This is because milk contains calcium, a nutrient that is beneficial to bone growth. Drinking 3 cups of milk a day can provide the calcium necessary for growth. However, some children do not like the smell of milk. If your child does not like to drink milk, you might as well let him drink yogurt or cheese.

Height-enhancing food 4: Spinach

Spinach is rich in iron and calcium. Children who are growing and developing need to supplement iron and calcium, so they can eat more spinach. However, many children are very resistant to spinach. Children often don't like spinach that is made directly according to the taste of adults. So you can chop the spinach and mix it into the rice ball.

Height-enhancing food 5: Sardines

Sardines are rich in protein and calcium. The calcium in sardines is easier to digest and absorb than the plant calcium contained in other seaweeds, which is very helpful for children's growth. In addition, seafood such as anchovies, whitebait, and smelt that are eaten with bones and meat are also good foods.

Height-increasing food 6: Carrots

Rich in vitamin A, it helps in the synthesis of protein. However, carrots have a special taste, especially large pieces of carrots, which have a stronger taste and children do not like to eat them. Therefore, if you want your children to eat carrots, you can consider mixing them with apples to make juice. You can also cut carrots into small cubes and add other ingredients to make fried rice.

Height-enhancing food 7: Oranges

Oranges are sour and sweet. I believe that there is no child who does not like to eat oranges. Oranges are rich in vitamin C, which can help calcium absorption. Other fruits such as strawberries, pineapples, grapes, kiwis, etc. are also rich in vitamins. You can usually make these fruits into salads or desserts for your children.
