The baby's body is very soft, and many parents tend to lift their babies' hands when teaching them to walk. So, which parts of the baby are prone to dislocation? Five major parts are prone to dislocationDislocation, scientifically known as "joint dislocation", usually refers to the dislocation of the relationship between the bone ends due to external violence. If the dislocated joint surfaces cannot contact each other at all, it is called a complete dislocation; if there is still partial contact, it is called an incomplete dislocation. Incomplete dislocation is the most common dislocation in young children. Dislocations are most likely to occur in the shoulder, elbow, hip, jaw, and fingers because these joints have large range of motion and loose joint capsules. Subluxation of the radial head of the elbow is most common in early childhood, mostly occurring between 1 and 4 years old. The following situations are likely to cause dislocation in children1. If a child falls suddenly, the parent should hold one of the child's hands and lift him up; 2. Pull the arm of a child who is sleeping late and does not want to get up; 3. Pulling your baby to run fast, or playing tug-of-war with your baby to test his strength, may also cause him to dislocate his joint; 4. When dressing the baby, adults pull or tug violently; 5. When holding your baby's hand while walking or going up and down stairs, lift the child's arm as if lifting something; 6. Using too much force to play games such as "pulling carrots" and "pulling a saw" to amuse the baby; 7. Let the baby lift heavy objects, or the baby slips or falls off the bed; 8. When going out for a walk, a car suddenly comes out from the corner. The panicked mother may pull the child's arm in surprise, causing dislocation. How does your baby react when a dislocation occurs?Because dislocation happens in an instant and the pain is severe, the baby will suddenly burst into tears. Older babies who can speak will cry out in pain and use their healthy arm to roughly point out the injured area. The dislocated joint loses its function and the baby cannot move the joint freely. Because the structure of the injured joint has changed, the ligaments and muscles are stretched, and it hurts with the slightest touch, so the baby is particularly resistant to others touching the injured part. Emergency treatment for baby dislocationOnce the baby has a dislocation, parents do not need to panic. It is not too difficult to restore the joint to its original state within two or three hours after the dislocation. If it takes too long, the surrounding tissues will swell and recovery will be difficult. Care methods: The baby is in great pain after dislocation. First of all, comfort the baby and deal with it immediately. The dislocated joint will compress the nerves, and the ligaments and muscles will be stretched at this time, so it will be very painful with a slight movement. Simple dislocation is often more painful than fracture. The hand will hang in front of the chest. You can use a large scarf to fold it into a triangle and hang the arm around the neck. But don't move the baby's affected limb at will to avoid secondary injury to the baby's affected part during the movement. Fix the affected part first, then apply ice compress, and go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. Even if the joint returns to its original position, the injured ligaments or surrounding tissues will still need treatment. The joint will not be able to move for several weeks, and the pain will be greater than if it were a broken bone. |
