How to massage the breasts to produce milk quickly How to massage the breasts to produce more milk

Some mothers are very anxious about not having enough milk after giving birth. Today, I will tell you how to quickly produce milk through massage. Mothers who have milk production problems, hurry up and learn it.

Lactation precautions

1. Clean the breasts

Expose the right breast, soak a small towel in water, apply soap, and scrub the breast in a clockwise direction, and scrub the entire breast from the nipple to the root, paying attention to gentle movements. Then use a clean and moderately wet towel to scrub the soapy liquid clean, and use a large towel to dry the breast. Then scrub the left breast in the same way.

2. Heat the breasts

Replace with a basin of clean hot water, the water temperature is 50-60 degrees, and the water temperature can be increased or decreased according to the temperature. Expose the chest, and cover the large towel 2-3 inches below the breast. Cover both breasts with the warm towel and keep the water temperature. It is best to use two towels alternately, and change the hot towel every 1-2 minutes, and apply it for 8-10 minutes. Pay attention to the skin's reaction to avoid burns, then wipe it dry with a towel and cover it with a large towel.

3. Breast massage

Expose the right side of your breast. Place a clean gauze over your nipple to absorb the milk that flows out. Pour the talcum powder on your hands and rub it evenly. Place your hands on the base of your breasts and massage clockwise for 1-2 minutes.

The specific method is as follows:

1. Hold the breast with one hand, and use the other finger to massage in a spiral shape from the base to the nipple and then to the entire breast according to the distribution of the mammary glands. Massage for 1-2 minutes.

2. Press the breast with one hand, and use the fingers of the other hand to push and massage from the base of the breast towards the nipple.

3. Place your hands on both sides of your breasts and squeeze and massage from the base to the nipple. Then, massage the left side of your breast in the same way.

After the massage, pour a small amount of glycerin on the fingertips of your right hand, spread your left thumb and four fingers to fix the area around the areola, and use your right fingers to pull the nipple outward several times. Then wipe off the talcum powder with a towel.

Basic techniques for lactation

Section 1: Promote patency of breast ducts

Method: Use the pulp of your thumb, index finger, and middle finger to massage back and forth longitudinally along the course of the mammary duct (see Figure 1).

Section 2: Soften the areola and milk sinus

Method: Use the thumb, index finger and middle finger to perform 360-degree rotation massage around the areola, and the hand can change direction continuously. Because the milk sinus of the areola is hard, the massage time needs to be longer (see Figure 2).

Section 3: Strengthen the lactation reflex.

Method: Use the thumb, index finger and middle finger to squeeze from the areola toward the nipple. When squeezing, the mother can imagine the way a baby sucks milk and imagine the three fingers of massage as the baby's small mouth sucking milk (see Figure 3).

Special techniques

Section 1: Relieve milk stasis

Method: Use one hand to support the breast in a "C" shape and vibrate the breast slightly, gradually increasing the amplitude of vibration; use three fingers of the other hand to massage from the areola toward the nipple (see Figure 4).

Section 2: Removal of induration of areola and surrounding tissues

Method: Place one hand on the outside of the areola, press vertically with the thumb and index finger, and use the other hand to massage along the course of the mammary duct using the method of milking until the areola gradually softens (see Figure 5).

Section 3: Improving the appearance of short, flat and inverted nipples

Method: Press and knead the nipple, and massage the areola and milk duct at the same time (see Figure 6).

Real-life demonstration of breast milk expression steps

Hand expressing breast milk

Massage the outer periphery of the breasts. Wash your hands before massaging, place your hands around the breasts with your thumbs facing up and four fingers facing down, then gently squeeze the breasts, repeating back and forth ten times.

Massage the areola

Gently move your fingers towards the areola and repeat the above massage steps.

Massaging your breasts can stimulate milk secretion.

Expressing breast milk

Move the fingers of one hand toward the areola, press gently toward the ribs, and then rhythmically squeeze inward. If no milk comes out, continue this step.

Make sure the milk container is at the right height. Express your breast milk alternately from each breast.

After expressing milk

Express milk on each breast for about 5 minutes, then switch to the other breast and repeat the above steps.

Hot compress massage

New mothers can use a warm towel to wipe the nipple in a circular motion from the center of the nipple to the areola, apply heat alternately on both sides for 15 minutes each, and combine with the following massage methods:

1. Circular massage

Place your hands above and below the breasts and massage the entire breast in a circular direction;

2. Spiral massage

Hold the breast with one hand, and massage the nipple with the index and middle fingers of the other hand in a spiral shape;

3. Acupressure massage

Place your hands on both sides of your breasts and squeeze from the breasts to the nipples.

If possible, this type of massage can be performed simultaneously with nipple correction massage, but in the late stages of pregnancy, do not touch the nipples too hard to avoid causing early uterine contractions.

The baby's sucking is the best massage method. The more times the baby sucks and the stronger the sucking, the more effective the massage of the mother's breasts, especially the areola, will be, which can stimulate the secretion of milk.

Therefore, new mothers should feed their babies once every 2 to 3 hours, but they still need to feed according to the baby's needs. Feed the baby whenever he is hungry. The more you feed, the more milk will be secreted. As for whether the baby is eating enough milk, you can check the baby's diapers. As long as you change at least 6 to 7 diapers a day, it means that the baby is sucking enough milk.

If the mother herself does not have any special conditions, such as mumps, fever, nipple rupture, etc., she should try to let the baby eat breast milk. Eating infant formula milk powder will make the baby lack hunger, thus reducing the chance of sucking breast milk. In this way, the mother's milk will naturally decrease.

Of course, during the massage, mothers should pay attention to replenishing water, eating a balanced diet, and resting during breastfeeding, and should not rush to lose weight. It is not enough to solve the problem of insufficient milk secretion from one aspect. New mothers should have full confidence and believe that they have enough milk to feed their babies. They should know that their psychological suggestion to themselves is also a stimulation to milk secretion, and this is more direct and more effective!
