What are the methods for pregnant women to induce labor? Is it good to take an injection to induce labor?

When the mother reaches the due date, there is still no movement in her belly. If the due date is exceeded by half a month, the placenta and umbilical cord may age, and the fetus in the abdomen will be in danger. So what are the methods for pregnant women to induce labor? Is it good to take an injection to induce labor?

Is the chance of cesarean section high after induction?

Studies have shown that mothers who have undergone induced labor are slightly more likely to have a caesarean section than mothers who give birth naturally. However, this is because mothers who need induced labor already have more conditions. Obstetricians and gynecologists believe that especially during the waiting process, if the waiting time is too long, many conditions may arise, which is why such research data appear.

What should I pay attention to when inducing labor?

Oxytocin injections or oxytocin drugs usually have no side effects on generally healthy pregnant women, but they should be banned in the following situations to prevent uterine rupture: (1) obvious cephalopelvic disproportion; (2) malposition of the fetus, such as transverse position; (3) pregnant women with a history of cesarean section and myomectomy. The effect of oxytocin on the organs of pregnant women is very small at normal doses and can be ignored. However, if oxytocin is used in large doses, it may cause high blood pressure, accelerated pulse, and water retention, so a doctor must conduct a comprehensive examination to determine whether the pregnant mother can use oxytocin.

What are the dangers of induced injections?

Oxytocin can cause the uterus to contract too strongly or uncoordinated, causing the fetus to suffocate due to lack of oxygen in the uterus. Due to uncoordinated uterine contractions, not only can labor not be accelerated, but it can also stop labor.

Oxytocin can cause uterine rupture. When the fetus is in an abnormal position or the pelvis is narrow, after using oxytocin, even if the uterus contracts very strongly, the fetus still cannot pass through the birth canal due to the small pelvis and abnormal fetal position, which eventually leads to uterine rupture.

In fact, if you want your baby to arrive as scheduled, you can try exercise to induce labor.

Exercise-induced method

Walking: Walking is the most suitable form of exercise in the late pregnancy. Walking allows you to breathe fresh air. In the late pregnancy, walking can help the fetus descend into the pelvis, relax the pelvic ligaments, and prepare for delivery. When walking, you should walk, massage, talk to your child, and listen to the singing of birds and the chirping of crickets.

Walking time: Walking can be arranged twice a day, morning and evening, each time for about 30 minutes, or three times a day, morning, noon and evening, each time for 20 minutes. Walking place: It is best to choose a quiet place for walking, without pollutants around, and do not walk on the roadside, as car exhaust will bring you too much lead.

Gymnastics: Prenatal gymnastics is very popular abroad. Gymnastics can not only help the fetal head enter the pelvis, but also increase the toughness and elasticity of the pelvic floor muscles.

Pony Stance: Hold the edge of the table with your hands, stand steadily with your feet, slowly bend your knees, lower your pelvis, and naturally spread your legs and knees until they are completely bent. Then, slowly stand up and push up with your feet until your legs and pelvis are upright. Repeat several times.

Leg rowing exercise: Hold the back of the chair with your hands, fix your right leg, and rotate your left leg 360 degrees (rowing in circles). When you are done, return to the original position, change legs and continue. Do this 5 to 6 times in the morning and evening.

Waist exercise: Hold the back of the chair with your hands, inhale slowly, use your arms to exert force, stand on your toes, straighten your waist, and keep your lower abdomen close to the back of the chair. Then exhale slowly, relax your arms and return your feet to their original position. Do this 5 to 6 times in the morning and evening.

Pelvic exercise: Get on your hands and knees, inhale and bend your back, exhale while raising your head and leaning your upper body back, repeat 10 times.

Vaginal muscle exercise: Lie on your back, slowly contract your vaginal muscles, pull your buttocks up, count to five, then slowly lower yourself, repeat 10 times.

Strength exercise: Lie on your back, take a deep breath, then exhale long and hard while pushing down.

Does oxytocin injection increase the risk of hyperactivity in children?

As we all know, oxytocin injection is a common method of inducing labor before a woman is about to give birth. But recently, I saw a rumor on the Internet that oxytocin injection for women can greatly increase the chance of children having ADHD. Is this true or false? Is there any scientific basis?

A new study was published online in the American Journal of Pediatrics on February 9: Do enhanced medical behaviors during childbirth increase the risk of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)?

Researchers from Denmark tracked 546,146 children born between 2000 and 2008. All were delivered naturally, 26% were given oxytocin to speed up labor, and only 0.9% were diagnosed with attention deficit or hyperactivity disorder.

The authors said they found no link between medical interventions during childbirth and ADHD in children. The study also showed that in Denmark, the risk of ADHD in children was higher if the mother was younger than 25, had already had children, or was not married.

In addition, the study found that among children born between 2001 and 2003, if they were born before 32 weeks of gestation and had a birth weight of less than 3000g or more than 4100g, they were more likely to suffer from ADHD.

The authors concluded that there was no link between the use of oxytocin during labor and ADHD in children.
