Is glass or plastic a better baby bottle? Is glass or silicone a better baby bottle?

When it comes to choosing baby bottles, most parents will choose glass ones, because glass bottles are easier to sterilize and there is no need to worry about hot water causing harm to the bottles. However, some parents will choose plastic ones. So, are glass bottles better or plastic bottles better?

Are glass or plastic baby bottles better?

Of course, it is a glass bottle, and it is better to use a glass bottle made of high borosilicate. I am here to tell you responsibly that not only children but also adults should not use plastic water cups, because plastic water cups contain harmful ingredients bisphenol A, which is a harmful chemical component that will be released when the water temperature reaches above 50 degrees. Especially the harmful ingredients in low-quality plastic water cups are higher. Many low-quality and low-priced water cups are made of recycled plastics and cannot be used at all. Even if it is a branded plastic water cup, it is best not to hold hot water above 45 degrees, and it must be replaced once a year.

Is glass or silicone better for baby bottles?

Generally speaking, it is better for newborns to use glass bottles. When the child grows up, you can start to use silicone bottles. The advantages of glass bottles are corrosion resistance, high safety, and high heat insulation performance. In addition, glass bottles have good transparency, and the scale is not easy to wear out after long-term use, and the bottle body will not become blurred quickly. However, glass bottles are easier to break and are relatively heavy. At the same time, you also need to pay attention to the fact that rapid thermal expansion and contraction will cause bursting. Silicone has good stability and still maintains good elasticity at around 200℃. If it is sealed and not damp in a room temperature environment, it will not deteriorate for at least one year. But be careful to distinguish fake silicone bottles and don't buy fake and inferior products.

How to sterilize baby bottles

Generally, there are two ways to sterilize baby products at home, one is sterilizer, the other is high-temperature sterilization by boiling water. In terms of sterilization effect, of course, boiling water is better, but if it is a plastic product, it may be damaged and even toxic substances may be produced by this method. Whether it is PP or PPSU, these plastic materials are resistant to high temperatures above 120 degrees, so how can they be boiled? The water temperature is of course no problem, but in the process of boiling water, the baby bottle will roll up and down with the boiling water, and it is easy to touch the four walls of the container, and the temperature of this part is far more than 100 degrees, so the possibility of harmful substances after being scalded is greatly increased. So try not to boil any plastic baby products in a pot of boiling water, unless you keep it in the middle of the water with chopsticks. Among plastic materials, PPSU is generally considered to be better, followed by PES, and finally PP.

Correct feeding posture with bottle

Place your child on your lap with his head in your elbow and support his back with your forearm. Do not place your child horizontally, but in a semi-sitting position, which ensures safe and easy breathing and swallowing, and does not choke the child. Before feeding, check the temperature of the milk by placing a few drops of milk from the bottle on the skin inside your wrist. The milk should not be too hot or too cold. You should check the flow rate of the milk in advance. Loosen the cap of the bottle slightly to allow air to enter the bottle to fill the space after the milk is sucked out. Otherwise, negative pressure will be formed in the bottle, making the bottle flat and the child sucking very hard.
