It is recommended to keep the water temperature at 37-38℃, and the water temperature in winter can be slightly higher than that in summer by 3℃ to 5℃. In addition, the water output of the nozzle should not be too large, otherwise the strong water impact will make the baby feel scared. It is better to adjust the water output to be gentler.

When washing the baby's hair, the mother can maintain the correct posture by placing the baby's head down on her arms, supporting the baby's little head with her palms, making the baby face herself in a slightly tilted posture, and freeing up her right hand to wash the baby's hair.

How to wash your hair

1. Use your right hand to scoop water to wash your child's hair (you can also wet the baby's head with a wet towel), and another assistant helps squeeze a little shampoo into his hand, and then you can wash your child's hair.

2. Use your thumb and middle finger to press down on the baby's ears from behind his head to prevent water from entering his ears.

3. Use a small amount of mild shampoo and gently rub the baby's hair. Do not scratch or pull the baby's hair. Just rub out the foam.

4. Play baby music while washing your hair to distract your baby and make him/her more happy to cooperate with your work.

5. There is no fixed time requirement for washing a baby's hair. It depends on the baby's cooperation. The washing time should not be too long to prevent the water temperature from becoming cold and the baby from catching a cold.

Especially when cleaning the fontanelle, the action should be slightly gentle, but the principle should be to clean it thoroughly. Do not be afraid of hurting the baby. The layer of membrane on the fontanelle has a natural protective effect. As long as the action is gentle, there will be no problem.

Step 3: When washing with water, the mother can wet a small towel and then clean the lotion. You can also scoop water to wash the back of the head, but make sure to rinse the lotion clean and do not let water flow into the baby's eyes and ears.

If there is a layer of grayish yellow oily crust on the baby's scalp, it is hard and unsightly, just like a layer of "rice crust" after cooking. Mothers can apply neomycin or vitamin B6 ointment on the baby's scalp, apply it thicker, let the oil penetrate into the oily crust, and after 5 to 6 hours, the oily crust will loosen and soften, then remove the oily crust and scales, and then wash the scalp with warm water. Or grind 5 to 6 vitamin B6 tablets (10 mg/tablet) and add them to the cooking oil used for cooking, mix well and apply on the scalp as above.

In fact, the formation of cradle cap is closely related to parents not daring to wash their children's hair and regarding the fontanelle as a "forbidden zone". The sebaceous glands on the baby's scalp secrete very vigorously. If the secretions are not removed in time, they will accumulate with the dirt on the scalp, forming a thick layer of scab over time. If you wash your child's scalp frequently, cradle cap will not form. By the way, touching the child's fontanelle when washing his hair will not hurt the child's brain, and the fontanelle is not a "forbidden zone".

The method of removing cradle cap is very simple. Just soak the cradle cap with vegetable oil and then comb it out gently. If the cradle cap is very thick, it may not be removed by soaking it with oil once. You can also apply vegetable oil 1-2 times a day until the cradle cap is soaked and then comb it out.
