Why do infants roll their eyes when they sleep? What are the precautions for babies to learn to swim?

Some babies roll their eyes when they sleep, which is ridiculous. So, why do babies roll their eyes when they sleep?

Infants rolling their eyes when sleeping

Under 3 months is normal

Careful mothers will find that their children roll their eyes in front of their eyes after a period of observation. The elderly call this rabbit eyes. This is because the child is too young and the nervous system is not fully developed. As the child grows up, around three months old, this phenomenon of rolling his eyes while sleeping will improve.

Note: If the child still often exhibits this condition after three months, parents should take the child to a relevant hospital for examination to see if the child is lacking in trace elements or has potential medical problems.

The child is in a light sleep state

Children, like adults, also have deep sleep and light sleep. When children just fall asleep, that is, before entering the deep sleep, they sleep very lightly. They do not close their eyes well, just like rolling their eyes. At this time, they are easily awakened by external sounds, so mothers should be gentle, turn down the TV and other external sounds at home, provide a good sleeping environment, and let the children fall asleep quietly. Children gradually enter the deep sleep layer from the light sleep layer. It is possible that parents see their children rolling their eyes to sleep at the beginning, and when they go to see them again after a while, the baby is already sleeping with his eyes closed.

Related to light source

Parents, have you noticed that babies roll their eyes when sleeping mostly during the day, not at night? This is because human eyes are naturally closed at night when there is no light source. However, when there is light during the day, the eyes are not completely closed, and it looks like they are rolling their eyes. Babies sleep when they are tired and want to sleep, and they do not distinguish between day and night. Therefore, parents can install curtains in the room where their children sleep, so that when the children fall asleep during the day, the curtains are drawn to prevent the light from being so strong, and the children's sleep quality will be better, and they will also feel more secure when they sleep.

Precautions for baby swimming

Swimming time should not be too long. Parents should control the baby's swimming time and amount of exercise in the water. The longer the better is not necessarily the case.

The first time a baby swims, 7 minutes is enough. Later, it can be extended to 15-20 minutes according to the situation, and the longest should not exceed 30 minutes. At the same time, the amount of exercise of the baby in the water should be controlled. The baby should not float still, nor should he move his limbs all the time.

If the baby swims for too long or moves too much in the water, it will cause a certain degree of fatigue, and in severe cases, it may even cause collapse. Give the baby a certain degree of initiative when swimming. During the baby's swimming, the mother and the baby should be kept within an arm's length for safe monitoring. The mother should not move the baby back and forth in the pool by holding the swimming ring, but can hold the baby's hand to let the baby move in the water.

When babies over 3 months old are swimming, mothers should try to avoid the babies pushing their legs forward against the pool wall when they are swimming happily, causing the body to fall backward.

Pay attention to rest after swimming. Wrap your child in a bath towel and dry his body, then apply some baby skin care products and give your child a full body massage. Rest for a while before drinking water or feeding to relieve your baby's fatigue.

After coming out of the swimming room, you should blow dry your baby's hair and wrap the child well to prevent him from catching a cold. After returning home, the child should have a good rest and pay attention to the child's sleep, feeding, mental state, urination and defecation. If there is any abnormality, report it to the doctor or swimming training teacher in time.

What should you pay attention to when taking your baby to the swimming pool?

1. Water temperature. Most adult swimming pools are too cold for children. The water temperature of a swimming pool is about 29-30.5℃, which is more suitable. If your baby shivers, take him out quickly and wrap him in a warm towel.

2. Time. Don’t let your baby stay in the water for too long. Start with 5-10 minutes and gradually extend it. If your baby is less than 1 year old, don’t let him stay in the water for more than 30 minutes.

3. Avoid letting your child swallow too much water.

4. If your child has skin problems, try not to go swimming, because the chlorine in the swimming pool water may irritate the skin.

5. Try to choose a swimming pool with fewer people and better sanitary conditions, and go during non-peak hours.

How often should babies swim?

There are very few sports that babies under one year old can do, and swimming is the best sport. Babies under six months old have poor spinal development, so the time and frequency of swimming should be slightly lower, usually once a week is enough.

After six months, if the baby is in good spirits, likes swimming, and the economic and time conditions allow, it is OK to swim for a while every day. If conditions and time are limited, swimming 1-2 times a week is also OK.

Attention! To prevent navel infection, it is not recommended for newborns under one week old to swim.
