Will corpus luteum deficiency lead to infertility? How to check for corpus luteum deficiency?

Many people will prepare for pregnancy before pregnancy. Some women cannot get pregnant after eating, which has a lot to do with the lack of corpus luteum secretion in their bodies. Therefore, if this happens, you should go to the hospital for examination, take medication, and follow the doctor's advice.

Can corpus luteum deficiency cause infertility?

The occurrence of corpus luteum phenomenon may lead to infertility in women. Due to the incomplete function of the corpus luteum, the fertilized egg of women cannot achieve normal implantation, which leads to the inability of the fertilized egg to develop normally, resulting in the occurrence of female infertility. In addition, even if normal implantation is achieved, premature birth or miscarriage may occur during the development of the fertilized egg. During pregnancy, the secretion of progesterone is restricted, which will lead to the inability to ensure the normal development of the fetus. Malnutrition or poor development of the baby will lead to the occurrence of premature babies, causing irreparable damage to the healthy growth of the baby.

How to check for corpus luteum insufficiency

The examination of corpus luteum function is usually done after ovulation. The diagnosis can be confirmed by measuring basal body temperature and testing the endometrium. If the body temperature during the luteal phase is shorter than 12 days, or the body temperature rises slowly and falls early, or the body temperature fluctuates greatly during the luteal phase, these are all manifestations of corpus luteum insufficiency. However, it should be noted that the basal body temperature should be measured continuously for three menstrual cycles before it can be determined. The medication time for progesterone supplementation therapy for infertility is generally advocated to start administration 2 to 3 days after ovulation. Even for habitual early abortion, the medication should be started 2 to 3 days after ovulation, just like the treatment of infertility patients. As for the discontinuation time, some scholars believe that the medication should be discontinued on the 14th day after ovulation to prevent false pregnancy. Some people also advocate that the medication should be discontinued until the menstruation. If the menstruation is delayed and there is no menstruation, an early pregnancy test can be done. When pregnancy is confirmed, the medication should be continued until the 12th week of pregnancy. As for the treatment with synthetic progesterone, whether it is injection or oral method, it cannot replace progesterone.

What medicine should I take for corpus luteum deficiency?

If treatment is not enough, there are many options for medication:

1. Intramuscular injection of progesterone, oral administration of medroxyprogesterone, etc.; generally, the medication is started two days after the basal body temperature rises and is continued until menstrual bleeding stops.
2. Human chorionic gonadotropin: When the follicles are close to maturity, human chorionic gonadotropin is used to induce ovulation, and medication after ovulation can stimulate the development of the corpus luteum, support the function of the corpus luteum, increase progesterone synthesis, and prolong the life of the corpus luteum. The usage is to start injecting the drug from the third day after the basal body temperature rises, once a day or every other day, for a total of 5 to 6 injections.
