Can you tell a boy or girl from the fetal movement? Don't believe this anymore.

Fetal movement is a reflection of the baby's health, and the mother can feel it. However, many folk sayings say that observing the fetal movement can determine whether the fetus is a boy or a girl. Is this method correct? Let's take a look with the editor.

Can you tell a boy or girl from the baby's movements?

Fetal movement refers to the movement of the fetus in the uterine cavity that impacts the uterine wall. After 4 months of pregnancy, that is, from the 5th month, the mother can clearly feel the movement of the fetus. The fetus stretches out its hands, kicks its legs, and impacts the uterine wall in the uterus. This is fetal movement. The number, speed, strength, etc. of fetal movements indicate the safety of the fetus. In fact, there are many folk sayings about the difference between boys and girls. These sayings are just a kind of entertainment after dinner. There is no actual scientific basis. Don't blindly believe in this. You must know that it is your own baby. It is the same whether you have a boy or a girl.

Kindly note that the sex of the fetus is determined from the beginning of the formation of the fertilized egg, and there is no way to change the sex of the fetus after pregnancy. Moreover, the fetus is not divided into male and female, just like the physical condition of the baby after birth.

When does fetal movement begin?

When the fetus develops to a certain extent, its movements can be felt by the pregnant mother. Fetal movement is an indicator of whether the fetus is developing normally, so many mothers are very concerned about when the fetal movement will occur. How long does it take for the fetus to move? How many months does it take for the fetus to move? Generally speaking, first-time pregnant mothers will feel the fetal movement for the first time around 18-20 weeks of pregnancy, but the amplitude of the fetal movement is very small. Most pregnant mothers can clearly feel the fetal movement after 4 months of pregnancy, that is, from the 5th month.

Some pregnant mothers are more sensitive and can feel fetal movement very early, but others need to feel fetal movement later. If the fetal movement does not appear as expected, pregnant mothers should not be anxious, it may be that the fetus is still too small and the movement is not large enough for pregnant mothers to feel. If you are still worried, you can go to the hospital for a check-up to observe the fetus. As long as the prenatal check-up is normal, the fetus is fine.

Precautions for fetal movement

1. Counting fetal movements is a simple way for pregnant women to monitor the fetus. Pregnant women begin to feel fetal movements at 18-20 weeks of pregnancy, especially at night. Fetal movements are most frequent from 29 to 38 weeks of pregnancy, and decrease slightly as they approach full term, generally 3-5 times per hour. If the fetal movement is abnormal, you should be alert to fetal distress. In the early stage of hypoxia, the fetus is restless, which is manifested by a significant increase in fetal movements. When hypoxia is severe, the fetal movement decreases, weakens, or even disappears. After the fetal movement disappears, the fetal heart rate generally disappears within 24-48 hours. Pregnant women should count fetal movements from 28 weeks.

2. The counting method is: count for 1 hour at a fixed time in the morning, noon and evening every day. If it is more than 3 times per hour, it reflects that the fetus is in good condition. You can also multiply the sum of the number of fetal movements in the morning, noon and evening by 4, which is the number of fetal movements in 12 hours. If the fetal movement reaches more than 30 times in 12 hours, it reflects that the fetus is in good condition. If it is less than 20 times, it means that the fetus is abnormal. If the fetal movement is less than 10 times, it indicates that the fetus is suffering from intrauterine hypoxia.

Fetal Movement Counting by 10

This method has a relatively high accuracy rate and is widely recommended by doctors. If you find the 3-hour calculation method too troublesome, you can try the fetal movement counting method.

1. Before going to bed at night, the baby is more active, and pregnant mothers can easily feel the fetal movement. Relax yourself physically and mentally and start counting the fetal movements.

2. The pregnant mother lies down, relaxes, and feels the fetal movement.

3. When you count more than 10 fetal movements, it means the baby is healthy; if the fetal movement is less than 10 times within 2 hours, you should find out the reason or go to the hospital for fetal heart monitoring.
