If the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck three or four times, there will be a zigzag indentation on the skin of the fetal neck, and multiple dark areas can be seen above it. Color Doppler imaging will show multiple small colored balls. By slightly rotating the probe and changing the examination angle, the image of part of the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck can be displayed.
